Gone are the days of moonshine being strictly taboo. Although bourbon will always be number one in Kentucky, moonshine is coming in at a very close second, especially here in Louisville. We already have Moonshine University and will soon have Derby City Shine, which will house a fully-operational distillery, a moonshine museum for tours, a retail store and meeting spaces. We’ve come a long way baby.
So what does this have to do with lighting and design you may ask? Taking the components from moonshining would make a spectacular home bar, can one go wrong with the combination of weathered wood and copper? We think not, as long as you don’t go overboard with the details.
So how to get started? You could paint walls in a flat copper tone to create a moody atmosphere and a weathered wood or copper feature wall would add a wonderful element of texture. Then load in the furniture and lighting from Alcott & Bentley. Finish off with some period art and accessories and you will have a chic new space that is totally unique.
